A bit about my path

Choosing this profession was less of a career decision and more of a fulfillment of my lifelong character. Having always served as a trusted confidant, my path has been guided by an innate empathy and a consistent drive to advocate for the well-being of others. I find profound joy in the art of listening, striving to understand individual narratives while providing a secure environment where every person feels truly validated and seen.

Personal milestones have deeply reinforced my conviction in the transformative power of being heard. Experiencing genuine compassion during my own times of vulnerability has left a significant mark on my perspective, directly influencing the empathetic framework I utilize as a practitioner today. I am dedicated to cultivating a sanctuary of warmth where you can arrive without pretense.

I view the therapeutic process as an alliance rooted in safety and mutual trust. It is my sincere honor to navigate these complex chapters with you, uncovering inner resilience and fostering the growth you deserve.

Background and experience

Education and early career

I completed my BA in Psychology at Brock University and earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Niagara University. My approach to therapy is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based practices.

When working with children, I incorporate play therapy and take an eclectic therapeutic approach tailored to each individual’s unique needs and personality. In addition to private practice work, I spent four years working within a domestic violence shelter supporting women and children through difficult life experiences, emotional challenges, and periods of transition.

This experience deepened my understanding of the importance of safety, empathy, and connection within the therapeutic relationship, and continues to shape the warm, supportive, and non-judgmental approach I bring to my work.

My therapeutic approach

Collaboration and connection

I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine, trusting relationship. My style is gentle, non-judgmental, and grounded in collaboration. I draw from CBT, solution-focused techniques, mindfulness, and play-based approaches for younger clients.

Clients often share that they feel calm and understood in our sessions, and that is exactly the atmosphere I hope to create: a place where you can show up honestly and be met with care.

What to expect in our first session

Starting therapy can feel unfamiliar, and it’s completely normal to feel nervous, unsure, or not know exactly where to begin. Your first session is simply an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a comfortable, supportive connection.

During this session, we may explore what has been bringing you to therapy, any current challenges you may be experiencing, your personal goals, and relevant background information that may help guide our work together.

There is no pressure to share everything all at once, and you are always welcome to move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and accepted without judgment.

Outside the therapy room

Outside of the therapy room, I typically spend my time with my partner, my cat Stewie, and my friends and family. I deeply value connection, quality time, and creating balance in everyday life.

I believe some of the most meaningful moments come from slowing down, being present, and spending time with the people and things that bring comfort and joy. I enjoy practicing self-care through simple and grounding activities such as crocheting, doing puzzles, reading, spending time outdoors, and finding moments to recharge and reset.

Whether it’s being outside in nature, enjoying a quiet evening at home, or spending time with loved ones, I appreciate the importance of maintaining balance and making space for rest, reflection, and connection.

Ready when you are

Take a gentle first step toward healing.

Reaching out for therapy can feel tender and vulnerable, but you don’t have to do it alone. Whether you’re seeking support for yourself or for your child, I’m here to offer a steady, compassionate space where we can explore things together: gently, at your pace, and in a way that feels right for you.
